Construction of Roads, Car Parks,
Swales and Landscaping
MBNA Bank, Chester
Project
Overview
Robin Jones &
Sons LTD were contracted by McAlpine Special Projects to carry out the extensive
groundworks required to construct two new buildings for MBNA Bank at Chester
Business Park.
The works was
split into two contracts: Phase 5 and Phase 7.
The
contract for Phase 5 consisted of the following main items:
- Excavation of a green field site
with and archeologically watch.
- Excavation and stoning up of
building area.
- Excavation of site roads and
production and placement of a special specification of aggregate to allow
for the through road water drainage system. Placement of this aggregate was
integrated with the fin drains that were placed at regularly intervals along
the alignment of the roads.
- Excavation of car park areas and
stoning up to level.
- Formation of landscape bunds.
The contract
for Phase 7 consisted of the following main items:
Excavation of a green field site.
- Excavation of site roads and
production and placement of a special specification of aggregate to allow
for the through road water drainage system. Placement of this aggregate was
integrated with the fin drains that were placed at regularly intervals along
the alignment of the roads.
- Formation of landscape bunds.
- Construction of swales including
outfalls, hydro brakes, and integrated drainage.
In addition,
we were requested to carry out additional works for McAlpine in June 2005:
1.
Supply and placement of tessellated paving stones.
2.
Additional manhole works.
3.
Landscaping to the entrance area including fauna beds.
